Ritratto Domestico
2025.
Wall installation 150x140x10 cm (maximum depth).
Acrylic paints on vintage plates.
Presented at MILANO ART WEEK 2025.
The project “Domestic Portrait” transforms an everyday object, the plate, from a simple tool for food consumption into a true expressive canvas. This gesture subverts the object’s original function, elevating it to an artistic support and prompting the viewer to reconsider the domestic sphere as a place of reflection and meaning.
The choice to depict a woman’s face adds a layer of depth to the work: femininity becomes the focal point of the piece, with the woman’s gaze acting as a bridge between the inner and outer worlds. This gaze, imprinted on an object traditionally associated with care and everyday life, suggests a narrative that can range from intimacy to strength, memory, and identity.
In this way, the project moves between art and design, between function and aesthetics, between domestic life and a broader vision of being and perception. The plate is no longer just a container for food, but becomes a container of meanings, a medium for exploring and narrating the role of women and their perspective on the world.
