The figurative is different from the abstract.
It reveals my inner world more deeply. It is a language of bodies, faces, and gazes.
The body speaks, the gaze penetrates.
Sometimes a simple drawing in pencil or marker is enough, and it becomes personal and autobiographical.
I often add broad, fierce brushstrokes, or ones that fall, languid and loose.
Figurative works are visceral, they cannot be otherwise.
